Directions

  1. Make the Garlic Bread “Buns” and Stuffing
    • Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
Spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread slices.
Sprinkle with vegan parmesan if using (optional).
    • Place on a baking sheet and warm buns for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp. Set aside.
    • Stuffing: Use premade favorite store-brand boxed stuffing (prepare according to directions, about 2 tbsp) or tear 1 thin slice of lightly toasted bread into morsels. Mix with garlic butter, chopped celery, black pepper, and a few drops of water to moisten.
  2. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes
    • Grill or pan-sear the sweet potato slices with a pinch of brown sugar and cinnamon over medium heat until tender and caramelized (about 3–4 minutes per side). Set aside. (Canned sweet potato is an option.)
  3. Smash the Bahama Burger
    • Heat a pan or skillet over high heat until very hot (about 375°F).
    • Divide the Bahama Burger patty in half and roll each half into a ball.
    • Place both halves in the skillet and press down with a metal spatula, smashing the meatballs to the desired bun size (like a smash burger).
    • Cook for 1 minute, flip, and season as desired. Flip again for 1 minute. Continue flipping until patties are browned and crisp as desired. Add a teaspoon of water to the skillet to help cook if needed. Do not overcook.
  4. Assemble the Burger
    • Spread a little cranberry mayo on the inside of the top and bottom buns.
    • Place sweet potato slices on the bottom bun.
    • Place 1 cooked patty with a slice of cheese and stuffing on top of the sweet potatoes.
    • Add the other cooked patty, then add the cranberry sauce or salad.
    • Place the top half of the bun.
    • Close the sandwich and press gently.
  5. Serve
    • Serve with your favorite holiday side, such as roasted Brussels sprouts or other Bahama casserole recipes.
